We’re finding today that the professional club general manager has many avenues of pathways to becoming a successful executive in this business. For many years, the traditional way of becoming a club general manager was to be involved in food and beverage. But today, we’re seeing club general managers who have backgrounds in accounting. Some of them have backgrounds in agronomy. Some of them have come up from the PJ side of the business. Some have liberal arts degrees. It really doesn’t matter as long as they understand the concepts of what good private club management is all about. It’s nice to see that this profession has opened up now to people from a variety of different backgrounds. Very often, they’re the most successful club managers.
